Respite Care of Marinette and Menominee Counties, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer based program providing confidential, in-home support to families caring for a loved one who may be elderly, disabled, chronically or terminally ill. Trained Respite Care volunteers offer companionship for care-recipients and respite for the caregiver. Our goal is to help maintain the family’s emotional and personal wellbeing through this intermittent relief (respite). Planning for respite care Respite Care provides temporary relief for caregivers from the ongoing responsibilities of care giving for an individual. Both the care-receiver and primary caregiver benefit from support provided by Respite Care. Upon request, a coordinator will visit your home to schedule respite times. The needs of the family will be discussed and a suitable, trained volunteer match arranged. Volunteer services include companionship activities: conversation, reading aloud, writing letters, playing board games, sharing music, etc. Personal cares for the individual are not included in the program. At the family’s convenience, a Respite Care volunteer may assist in the home for up to four hours a week. Respite Care services are available to adults at no charge regardless of financial status.
